Hi. Hello.! Seattle, Washington—a city that shines with innovation, art, and, of course, delicious cuisine. Today, I’ll dive into a delightful spot where a few friends and I found ourselves in sushi heaven. Through my lens and quirky, descriptive words, let’s unravel all the wonderful bites.

Disclaimer: The story you’re about to read happened a few months back, so some flavors and names may be missed in this retelling.
As the vibrant city lights twinkled outside, I remember thinking I was extremely high and felt the need for shades. I stepped up to Sushi by Scratch feeling aloof and a bit paranoid. I rang the doorbell.
The room we were led into was quaint. There were two couples and a trio sitting at a table and a small bar. The atmosphere felt romantic to me because of the darkness, with certain lights casting soft rays into the room.
As an appetizer, they immediately served us a nice alcoholic drink paired with an oyster. What I remember about the oyster is that I had never had one like it before, and I love new experiences.
Now, I don’t remember the name of the next appetizer, but I do remember it being very tasty. I don’t always love fish eggs on different dishes, but this one was paired together so well.
It was really cute how they moved everyone into a different room for the main courses. We shuffled into another space that was better lit, more bar-like, with names spread out indicating where each individual should sit. The chefs were already dicing and cutting, all while flashing warm smiles.
The menu, as you can see above, consisted of 16 pieces of elegant sushi. It was scrumptious, and some bites really expanded my palate. It made me want to get creative in the kitchen again.
In between savoring these bites of culinary perfection, I asked one of the chefs a few inquisitive questions. I was curious about his opinion on a couple of restaurants I’ve been dying to visit and what he enjoys eating in Seattle. (Come to think of it, I really should’ve done a full interview on his Seattle food picks!)
I enjoyed the intricacies of the flavors on some bites—how they flowed together seamlessly, while others popped unexpectedly, making me think, “Wow, I never imagined that combination with fish!” Watching them craft each piece, one by one, right in front of you, was both exciting and mesmerizing. It added a nice visual element to the experience, something I always appreciate when dining out.
Anyone venturing into Seattle, or traveling through, should not miss this place! And hey, maybe even bring me along. ;)
XO,
Keiki
